皇室列车的灾难性事故4 张照片

1888年10月17日,一支皇家列车在哈尔科夫附近的博尔基村发生了灾难性的事故。
\n\n\nThe accident involving the Imperial train occurred at 2:14 p.m. on the 295th kilometer of the Kursk-Harlow-Azov line, south of哈尔科夫. The royal family was traveling from Crimea to Saint Petersburg. Although the cars of the royal train were in excellent technical condition, having operated without incident for 10 years, the train exceeded the maximum allowable axle count of 42 for passenger trains according to railway regulations of that time. This imperial train, composed of 15 carriages, actually had 64 axles. Its weight fell within the limits set for freight trains, but its speed was comparable to that of an express train. It was pulled by two steam locomotives, enabling it to reach a speed of around 68 kilometers per hour. Under such conditions, 10 carriages broke away from the train.
\n\nWitnesses described a violent impact that threw everyone inside the train off their feet. After the first shock, a second even more powerful collision occurred, followed by a third, softer jolt. Only then did the train come to a stop. Those who survived the accident saw a horrifying scene of destruction: the carriage carrying the royal family was completely destroyed, with its walls collapsed and its wheels gone. It lay half-on the embankment, the roof partially resting on the lower frame. Alexander III and his family managed to escape under the debris thanks to the strong physique of the emperor himself.
\n\nFrom under the wreckage, the emperor, empress, Césarévich Nicolas Alexandrovitch – future Emperor Nicholas II – Grand Duke Georgy Alexandrovitch, Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna, and other members of the entourage who had been attending the breakfast meeting survived. Most of the passengers in that carriage suffered only minor injuries such as bruises and scratches, except for the adjutant Sheremetev, whose finger was crushed under the debris.
