#### Scientists' House (Sovnarkomovskaya Street, 10) This house was built in 1898 by Anna Alekseevna Beketova, née Alchevskaya, in the new Greek style according to the design of her husband, architect Akademik A. N. Beketov. The construction was carried out with the participation of the young architect V. G. Kritchevsky. It is not possible to determine exactly what contributions Kritchevsky made to the project. The facade of the house, just like that of the Ignatishhev mansion, is adorned with very similar bas-reliefs. On the second floor, on the western side, there used to be a portico with cariatsids. In the 1920s, this portico was extended without the involvement of the original designer. The interiors of this house are particularly interesting; the staircase is decorated with a colorful stained glass window. After the death of Aleksey Kirillovich Alchevskiy, Anna Alekseevna Beketova sold the house to the attorney K. P. Prikhodkov. Today, the library of the Scientists' House is located in a neighboring one-story stone building, which was actually constructed in 1889 by the noblewoman Goloperova.
