Belgian scientists have combined contact lenses with LCD screens. For now, they only display the symbol for the dollar, but these new lenses still offer a number of advantages.
\nAt the University of Geneva in Belgium, a curved LCD screen was developed that can be integrated into contact lenses. Currently, these lenses only show simple images such as the dollar symbol; however, the developers claim that in the future they will be able to display any type of information.
\nThese lenses can be particularly beneficial for people who need compensation for visual impairments caused by defects in the cornea. For example, the lenses darken when the “user” is in direct sunlight.
\n\nIn addition, these new lenses will allow users to change the color of their eyes according to their mood.
\nA significant advantage of these lenses is that they can also be used as a portable display device. They enable users to read SMS messages or view data from a car navigation system, including directions for driving.
