Sumskaya, 6.

One of the oldest buildings on Sumskaya Street. According to the information in Leibfried A.Y.’s catalogue, the three-story building at number N6 was constructed in 1879 according to the design by architect B.S. Pokrovsky for a person named Lysikov.

In 1912, the building was renovated in the Art Nouveau style and expanded by two additional floors according to the plans of architect B.N. Korenenko for I.I. Freiman.

On the first floor, there are commercial spaces with large display windows. The walls of the following two floors are decorated with a strip of glazed colored ceramic tiles. The partitions between the windows on the fourth floor are designed in the form of paired columns, while the fifth floor is a attic floor.

Like many other old buildings, this structure also fell into disrepair towards the end of the Soviet era.

After extensive renovations, it has once again become a prominent landmark at the beginning of Sumskaya Street.

Above the windows are female sculptures placed on pedestals that resemble women’s masks.<
