Church of John the Baptist, Kidesh

In the Transcarpathian region there is a small village of Kidesh, it is located near the town of Berehove (5 km). There is one interesting exhibit that is worth seeing. It was in this place that the church of John the Baptist is located.

This temple was built in the 12th and 14th centuries and the original purpose that served to create this building was its defense function, except that it was also thought of as a Catholic . With this church, the name of the Hungarian king Sholomon, who was the son of Anastasia Yaroslavna, is associated, and she, in turn, was the daughter of the famous Kiev prince Yaroslav the Wise. About the defense value of this church can also be judged by looking at the thickness of the walls in the window apertures in the apse of the temple (the apse is a certain ledge in the building of the church, in the Christian churches this place served as an altar ledge).

To date, the church of John the Baptist is not used as a Catholic church, and acts as a reforming church. This temple is quite an interesting place to celebrate it on your tourist route through Transcarpathia and Ukraine as a whole.
