Church of the Nativity of the Virgin, Tysmenytsya

In the historical district of Tysmenytsia, the Nativity of the Virgin church, built in 1736, is located. The church refers to the cross-dome type of buildings. It is built entirely from a tree in old Hutsul style.

All the log buildings of this single-domed church have a five-wall structure and several faces. The church porch is made in a rectangular shape. The temple has a hipped roof. The first tier of the structure from the east is made chopped, and from the west - skeleton, while the upper tiers of the church covers the tin. The third church tier is presented by an elegant arcade-gallery. Not far from the church there is a wooden three-tiered belltower, the erection of which also dates back to the 18th century. The approximate date for its re-construction is 1801.

The inner walls of the temple are adorned with numerous murals of masters of the 19th century. From the interior of the temple to our days preserved the iconostasis, made in Baroque-Renaissance style. According to some researchers, it exists in the church since its foundation.

During the construction of the church, the masters managed to realize the most best traditions of artistic folk architectureof the Carpathian region of those times. The characteristic motifs are traced in the combination of details, strict observance of the rules for the erection of the temple, and the beautiful outline of the building.

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in Tysmenitsa refers to the outstanding creations of masters who created in the style of folk architecture of Hutsul. It is one of the rarest representatives of an amazing architectural and artistic ensemble among religious buildings. Belongs to the church of the Greek-Catholic diocese.
