The Museum of Local Lore, Tysmenytsya

The town of Tysmenytsia is known since the 12th century. At the end of the 17th century, the city became one of the craft centers producing leather goods. In 200 years, many European residents dreamed of obtaining a thousand products.

The city of Tysmenytsia is known since the 12th century. At the end of the 17th century, the city became one of the craft centers, producing leather products. After another 200 years, many European residents dreamed of obtaining the Tumen production. In Soviet times a fur factory was built in the city, the entire USSR learned about the city. Fur coats made in Tysmenytsya are still appreciated today.

In the building, built in 1902, the museum of local lore is located. Previously, this house belonged to a school for boys. The museum was created and headed by S. V. Gavrilyuk, whose name was awarded to the museum in 2002 together with the title of People's.

The museum occupies the first floor of the building and includes three halls. Here you can get acquainted with the process of becoming a city, learn about fur production, see unusual collections. Still within the walls of the museum there are a mock city and photographs with buildings, many of which no longer exist. Visitors will be interested to consider a collection of ancient banknotes and the results of archaeological excavations. A lot of documents on the walls of the second hall confirm the great past of the city. Also here are tools and various fur and leather products belonging to different epochs.

Another interesting feature of the museum are constantly changing expositions showing an unknown Ukraine.

The museum is open every day (except Monday). Admission is free.
