Local History Museum Bojkovshchina, Rozhnyatov
Medieval chronicles also mention the whole villages in which the fighters lived. These villages are located in the mountains and valleys, have their own customs and characteristics. Ukrainian writer Ivan Franko describes Boykovshchina in his historical story "Zakhar Berkut" beautifully.
Local history museum "Boykivschina" is located in the village Rozhnyatov. It occupies an old mansion, built in the early 20th century by the Ukrainian Count Dumka. In Soviet times, the building housed a court, later - a museum of the artist, local historian and public figure Vladimir Kharchenko.
More than 400 rare itemscan tell about the evolution of this land, from the 2nd century to the present. The museum features folk and sacred art. There are also some paintings of the painter Kharchenko.
The exhibits are divided into 3 themed rooms. The first clearly shows the history of the region. The second one is completely devoted to the fighters. The boyko folk art, objects of the cult interior and everyday life are demonstrated. Also in the museum you can see a fragment of the iconostasis of St. Basil, who survived the ruin and destruction of the Rožniatovsky church in the 70s. In the third room, an amazing collection of jugs made by strikers is demonstrated. There are more than 90 of them here.
