St. Michael's Church, Pechenezin
In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, many sacred values invested in works of art, including the extraordinary temple architecture. At Kolomyyshyna, where the village of Pechenezhin is located, many temples of the 16-20th centuries, built in traditional forms of Hutsul school, survived. With a huge variety of creative solutions, they have common style signs that formed this distinctive school of popular temple construction in Hutsulshchina. In the center of Pechenezin in 1870 the Greek Catholic Church of St. Michael was built.
Pechenezin is one of the most jealous settlements in the district. Its name was received in those days when the Pechenegs were conquered and captured here.
The church is cross in plan and has 5 domes - already these signs clearly indicate that its creators were well acquainted with the characteristic features of Hutsul's church architecture. The temple is an architectural monument of local significance.
