St. Dimitri Church, Pechenezin
In each culture an important role is played by religious values. And wooden churches of Ivano-Frankivsk region are unique examples of wooden constructionwith unusual architecture and rare interiors. There are three styles according to which the Carpathian wooden churches were built, correspondingly to the names of ethnic groups of Carpathian Ukrainians: the Lemkovo, the Boykovsky and the Hutsul. The latter style is typical for the surviving churches of the 16-20 centuries in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Temples of Hutsul school, as a rule, were built with one-story, sometimes it was three or five-level wooden churches.
One of these is in Pechenegin - this is the church of St. Dimitri, built in 1629. Initially, there was a modest temple, which was burned by the Tatars. In his place, a small chapel was built, and a little later they attached a large wooden church to St. Dimitri, which now belongs to the UOC-KP. The main value in it is ancient religious folios, as well as artistic and carved images. Next to the church there is a preserved room of the deacon school, erected in the late 18th century. It had a social and church purpose.
In 1873, on the money of the Pechenyzhinsky community in honor of the 25th anniversary of the abolition of corvee duty, a memorial cross "Freedom"was placed here. Many famous people of the village are buried in the cemetery at the church.
Also in Pechenezin is worth visiting the church of St. Michael.
