At the dawn of the new century, one of the most beautiful houses of the city was built in Kherson. The merchant of the 2nd guild, Medvedev, built this building. Initially, the house was built as residential.

In the architecture of the building, the merchant tried to express all his power and consistency. The house is made in an eclectic style with Baroque elements. The facade of the building looks luxurious. It takes time to consider the complexity and beauty of the stucco. Openwork elements do not overload the design of the building, but on the contrary, the house looks very airy.

Some time after the revolution, the building was in desolation. But after 1957 the building housed the state archive of the Kherson region. Another of the notable buildings of Kherson is the city hospital named after Athanasius and Olga Tropinykh. It also has an interesting architecture and no less interesting history.
