Church of the Holy Women of the Myrrhbearers, Bolekhov

In the town of Bolekhov there is a church of the Holy Women of the Myrrhbearers, built in 1906. Initially, this place was a wooden church, which had the same name. According to researchers, the ancient church was erected in the 17th century.

According to researchers, the ancient church was erected in the 17th century. The new church was built from natural stone. Large-scale construction and restoration work was carried out in 1793 and in 1868. The construction of the new church was conducted by the priest Ivan Ozarkiewicz, who came to the city in 1884.

In 1909, the building of the new church was consecrated by Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky. During the Soviet era, the church did not work and was closed to parishioners and tourists. In the spring of 2009, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the church, the Church of the Holy Women of the Myrrhbearers received the status of a cathedral. Today it works in the usual way and its doors are always open for believing people and travelers.  The church is the main temple of the cityand the pride of the entire Carpathian region.

The Church of the Saints of the Myrrhbearers is built in a three-domed one, one of the domes is large, and the other two are slightly smaller and absolutely identical. Church windows are made with an elongated arch shape, which gives them subtlety. To the right of the central entrance to the church is a rather large chapel, built in the same style as the temple. Outside, the church is gray, which is typical for stone buildings, and its central entrance is decorated with three painted paintings-icons. Their bright colors stand out against the background of gray color and catch your eye even before approaching the temple. The domes on the church also have an unusual color: the upper part of each of the domes is painted in blue, and the lower one is golden. The area around the church is enclosed by a fence, and ornamental plants and trees grow on its yard.

The Church of Saints of the Myrrhbearers in Bolekhiv has the status of an architectural monument oflocal importance.
