Lake Buchak

Buchak is an unusual lake, which has anthropogenic origin and formed during the construction of the Kanevskaya PSPP. During the creation of the reservoir bowl, the village of Buchakovo was resettled. Then the landscape changed to unrecognizability, being erased from the face of the earth by powerful bulldozers.

During the works, the terrain of the future lake underwent significant changes, which affected even the monument - Mount Lysukh. After the work on the clearing, it turned out an interesting detail: in the vicinity of Lysukhy many archaeological finds of the period of Ancient Rus were discovered.

Lake Buchak was formed in 1974 and was named after a former village in the immediate vicinity of it. Local residents say that the depth of this pond reaches 30 meters, and its bottom is lined with concrete slabs. The water level in the lake exceeds that in the Kanevsky reservoir, due to feeding it with cold springs. The lake is in an area that strikes the imagination with its beauty.He was appreciated by the directors of many films that were shot here, as well as dozens of artists coming here from all CIS countries who want to capture the beauty of this unique place, partially created by human labor.

Now from the village of Buchak there are only a few houses in which mostly summer residents and fishermen live in the summer season, which is strikingly different from the past of this historic place.
