The Historical and Art Museum, Pochaev

In the year of its opening, the museum was only a couple of roomsin the building of the House of Culture and had an atheistic direction.

For its short history the museum changed several names and locations. After Khrushchev's visit, the museum became part of the local history museum of the Ternopil region and occupied a place near the laurels. In 1975, the facility received the position of an independent museum of atheism. The peak of the heyday of the museum of atheism occurred in 1981-1991, when a large building of the former school was allocated to him, and after him came a difficult period - moving to the old school emergency room and the subsequent series of renaming: the museum of spiritual culture, the history of Christianity, the art and history department of the regional art Museum and the modern name - Pochaev Historical and Art Museum (2002).

Pochaev is also known to all pilgrims of the Orthodox Church thanks to the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra.
