Pnevsky Castle appeared here during the decline of the Galicia-Volyn principality. The Polish tycoons, using this, began to actively capture the lands of the Carpathian Mountains. So (in the 16th century) Pniew Castle appeared at the foot of Stargor. It was built by Polish feudal lords of Hungarian origin - Kuropatvi. The lock performed several important functionssimultaneously.

With his appearance, the birth of the local settlement ofNadvirna is associated. The castle was located in a very convenient place. Through it passed one of the largest trade routes. A little later, they set up customs here. This place began to attract merchants and artisans who settled near the castle. Also in the settlement some servants of the fortress began to live.

Pnevsky Castle, at that time, was the most fortifiedstructure on the territory of Ukraine. He performed a defensive function, here everything was thought out to the last detail. The thick walls were connected by strong towers, which a little protruded from the general outline of the structure. This made it easy to view and shell all directions leading to the castle. The entrance was guarded by a huge artificial ditch with water. On the other hand, the castle was guarded reliably by mountain cliffs. The walls of the castle were made of gray hewn stone, in places red brick was used. The castle has often experienced heavy sieges of Cossacks and Turks.

In the 19th century, after a series of destruction, the castlelost its original meaning. Local residents began to stretch the castle walls to building materials. Until today, only the northern wall of the castle has been well preserved. There are still traces of the original plaster of the building. Several towers remained, underground casemates were preserved. It is very interesting and fascinating to explore history with the help of such living benefits of the past years.
