Ternopil regional museum of local lore
Ternopil Regional Museum of Local History works for a whole century. In 1913, when the museum first opened its doors to visitors, it was called Podolsky and consisted of 4 departments. Today the number of exhibits in it exceeds 160 thousand copies.
The museum worked throughout the Second World War, although it suffered from the hands of the invaders. In 1968 the museum was closed and did not function for almost 20 years, and after that it was transferred to a specially constructed building.
In the museum's expositions, one can trace the history of the Ternopil region from the 10th century to the present day. Among the exhibits there are collections of ceramics, weapons and icons. Of particular interest are the 4 sculptures of the great master I. Pinzel, who adorned the side altar of the Intercession Church.
In 4 exhibition halls there are 3 permanent expositions and one, changing monthly. Every year about 200 thousand Ukrainian visitors and foreign tourists come to the museum.
