The Kamianets-Podilsky Town Hall was built on the central square of the Old Town in the 14th century and is considered one of the oldest in Ukraine. Two centuries later, a rectangular tower was attached to the town hall and two bells were installed, decorated with a mechanical clock that still works. In the town hall there are cellars that have access to the dungeons that lead to the Dominican and Franciscan churches.

In the town hall there are cellars with entrances to the dungeons that leadto the Dominican and Franciscan churches. In the building of the city magistrate important issues of life of the city were solved for several centuries. On the square in front of the entrance to the town hall, verdicts were often pronounced, executions and tortures were carried out. Here, Ustim Karmelyuk was punished with a blow from the whip and branding with a red-hot iron. The most massive execution took place when the gaydamaks from the detachment of Ivan Gonta were tortured and killed here. This place was called the Frontal.

Today in the Town Hall, on the second floor, there is a unique Museum of Money and the only in Ukraine Museum of the History of Magdeburg Law. In the basement there is an exposition "Court in the medieval Kamenets", where wax figures and attributes of the executioner reproduced a reliable picture of medieval torture casemates.

\nThe town hall contains basements that lead to underground passages, which connect to the Dominican and Franciscan churches. For several centuries, important municipal affairs were handled in this building. Sentences were read out, executions, and punishments took place in the square in front of the entrance. Ustym Karmeluk was punished here with 101 strokes of the whip and branding with hot iron. The most brutal execution occurred when the Haidamaks from Ivan Gonty’s squad were tortured and killed here.


\n\nToday, on the second floor of the town hall, there is a unique Money Museum and the only Museum in Ukraine dedicated to the history of Magdeburg Law. In the basement, an exhibition titled „Trial in Medieval Kamieniec“ uses wax figures and tools of the executioner to recreate a vivid image of medieval torture chambers.
