St. Makarievsky Cathedral
In 1903, the Makarievsky temple was built, and a year later it was consecrated in the year of the glorification of Seraphim of Sarov.
Even before the coup in Poltava At the temple, the Makarievsk Brotherhood operated, which was engaged in charity and spiritual and educational work. The temple was closed from 1938 to 1941. At the same time 40 Poltava churches were destroyed or simply closed. Makarievsky temple bypassed the wave of temple destructionduring the so-called "Khrushchev's thaw."
After the demolition of the Transfiguration Cathedral in 1962, he received the status of a cathedral church. Now the church belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate and worship is performed daily.
