Ilyinsky Church, Kiev
The modern church was built in 1692 on the site of its predecessor. According to the plan, this is a typical Ukrainian three-part temple with a faceted babinka, a nave and an altar. Due to the lack of girth arches, the inner space is perceived as a single whole. The temple is decorated in accordance with the canons of the academic school. On the walls there are about 40 plots, in which the life story of the prophet Ilya dominates. On the walls of the chapel there are many ancient icons. When you visit the temple, pay attention to the brick baroque gate of the mid-18th century, on the locks of which there are letters "IP", which stands for "Ilia the Prophet."
Ilinskaya church is especially loved by local residents, so if you walk along the Podol - be sure to visit this amazing place.
