The Cathedral of Saints Anthony and Theodosius

The Cathedral of Saints Anthony and Theodosius is a unique architectural monument of the mid-18th century in Vasilkov. The church is active and subordinate to the Moscow Patriarchate. The cathedral was built from 1755 to 1758 by the famous Ukrainian master-architect and serf by the name of Stepan Kovnir. He is considered to be the main specialist in the style of the Ukrainian Baroque, in which the outstanding cathedral of Anthony and Theodosius is built.

The Cathedral of Saints Anthony and Theodosius is a unique architectural monument of the middle  18  century in Vasilkov. The church is active and subordinate to the Moscow Patriarchate. The cathedral was built with  1755  to 1758  years the famous Ukrainian master-architect and serf by the name of Stepan Kovnir. He is considered to be the chief specialist in style  Ukrainian  Baroque, in which the prominent cathedral of Anthony and Theodosius was built.

Latest  restoration  buildings were carried out in the late 1990s, repairs lasted about  eight  years. A beautiful structure was empty for many years from the 1960s, worship services were banned in the Soviet period.

The composition of the building is recognized as one of the best works  author Kovnira. He created a symmetric  ensemble  of  five domes, where the height of the central is 28 meters. Stand out on the facade of multi-tiered rich cornices and moldings of window frames, skillfully decorated with decorative elements.
