Church of John the Baptist (Borislav)

The Church of John the Baptist is literally buried in the luscious greenery of the small town of Borislav. The present temple was built in 1879. Many years ago on this place stood the wooden temple of the Resurrection of the Lord, the mention of which dates back to the 15th century.

Outwardly, the church is decorated with a tree. According to its plan - this is a single-storey building of thecross shape. In the lower part of the building you can see the original timber logs, as the rest of the walls are covered with wooden lining. An important highlight of the interior is the preserved wooden iconostasis of the 19th century. Next to it is an old wooden three-tier bell tower and a new stone belfry. At the entrance to the territory of the temple at the gate is a high monument to John the Baptist.

Incredible silence, beauty and attraction of local places will not leave anyone indifferent. In addition, Borislav was famous among pilgrims and tourists thanks to the church of St. Anne.
