Writers' House of Ukraine (Lieberman Mansion)

The building, which since the 1950s was a haven for writers all over Ukraine, was once built by the order of the former mayor of St. Petersburg, Fyodor Trepov. After an unsuccessful attempt on his life, this well-known figure decided to quit his business and moved to live in Kiev. But the owner of Trepov's mansion was not long.

But the owner of Trepov's mansion was not long. Years later, a fabulously rich sugar factory Lieberman bought out a 20-story house. He rebuilt the mansion on his own.

After the revolution, the owners often changed at the building.He was occupied by the counter-intelligence headquarters, the military district commission, and even the kindergarten. Here the Council of People's Commissars acted, in memory of which the coat of arms of the Ukrainian SSR for a long time flashed on the facade, Stalin ... Only in the year 53 the building was finally given to the Writers' Union.And it is here that many famous Ukrainian writers, such as Lina Kostenko or Ivan Drach, began their creative path.

The Lieberman mansion is located in the Pechersky district of Kiev. Also on this street is the famous House with Chimeras.
