Black Forest

Black Forest is a mysterious natural object in the center of the Kirovograd region. It is located in Znamensky and Aleksandrovsky districts. From different directions on the outskirts of the forest there are the villages of Bogdanovka, Tsibulevo and the town of Znamenka.

In the past, the forest area occupied a much larger area than today. In 1975, part of the Black Forest was declared a reserve of national importance. The wood produced in these forests was used to build ships of the Black Sea Fleet and the city of Kirovograd.

Among the vegetation of the Black Forest, trees such as oak and common horn predominate. There are also linden, maple, aspen, ash and hazel. Many types of plants that can be found on the territory of the forest are rare and atypical for central Ukraine. Some of them are listed in the Red Book. In the forest there is a marshland of the same name. It is a hydrological monument of nature. In the center of the swamp there is Lake Berestovatoe. This is the most mysterious and mysterious lake, not only in the Kirovograd region, but throughout Ukraine. Until now, its depth is unknown.

In 1949, excavations were carried out in the forest and remnants of the site were discovered. Also among the local population there are rumors that secret objects were built in the center of the forest during the Soviet era. Black Forest continues to be a favorite among mushroom pickers
