Poltava Petrovsky Cadet Corps - the largest building of the architectural complex of the Round Square.

In 1829, the Poltava military governor-general, Prince Nikolai Grigorievich Repnin-Volkonsky, proposed the construction of a cadet corps in Poltava. June 27, 1835, the day of the Poltava victory, with the support of the nobles of Poltava, Kharkov, Chernigov and Ekaterinoslav provinces, the building of the building was laid. The structure of the Poltava Cadet Corps, in the style of Russian provincial classicism, was completed in 1840. The project was designed by the architect M.I. Bonch-Bruevich.

The building is a T-shaped in plan, three-story brick building. The main facade is decorated with an eight-columned portico of the rimodoric warrant, which rests on the protruding arcade of the ground floor. The portico is crowned with a triangular pediment. The Cadet Corps is the largest building among the eight buildings of the Round Square, the length of its main facade is 132 meters.

In 1840 a preparatory class was opened in the Poltava Cadet Corps. The Poltava Petrovsky Cadet Corps accommodated more than 400 cadets, and was accepted for studies from 10 to 18 years. In addition to general education, special disciplines were studied in the building: physical education, fencing, swimming, drill training, music, singing, dancing.

The Cadet Corps lasted until 1919. In the summer of 1919, during the capture of Poltava by Denikin's men, Poltava infantry courses worked in the building.

In 1938 the Yaroslavl Automobile Technicians School was transferred to the building, which later became a tractor school.

In 1958, the building of the Poltava Cadet Corps, to which the Dnipropetrovsk Artillery School was transferred, was renamed the Poltava Higher Antiaircraft Missile Command Red Banner School named after General of the Army N.F. Vatutina, and was here until 1995. July 18, 1995, the last graduation took place, and the school was disbanded.

The building is currently closed.
