The house of the civil governor of Poltava was built in 1811, according to a project developed by the St. Petersburg architect A. Zakharov in the style of Russian provincial classicism. The building is a U-shaped in plan, a three-storey house (two floors and a basement) and side one-storeyed wings, connected by a brick fence, in which there are passageways and thoroughfares.

The appearance of the building corresponds to the style of the architectural ensemble. The main facade is decorated with a six-columned portico of the Tuscan warrant, leaning on the protruding basement floor. Above the portico the building is decorated with a horizontal attic.

During the Great Patriotic War, in 1943 the building was destroyed. In 1954 -1956 years rebuilt with redevelopment, designed by architects IL. Shmul'son and V.S. Yavnikova.

Now the building is located Department for Combating Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Poltava region.
