The Wuchang-Su waterfall
"Cremasto Nero", "Autkinsky", "Yalta" or simply "Wuchang-Su" - this is the name of the largest waterfall in Ukraine, which height is 98.5 m. It is located Wuchang-Su in the Crimea on the river with the same name , on the southern side of Mount Ai-Petri. You can get to its swift waters directly from Yalta, having overcome 7-8 kilometers.
There are legends that once on the site of this waterfall there was not a single drop of water. He appeared when the spirit of the mountains kidnapped one of the most beautiful girls in the area. The woman escaped from captivity and rushed to help people who died from a drought, arranged by a demon of mora. Descending from the mountains, the girl turned into a swift stream of waterfall, which is now called Wuchang-Su, which means "flying water".
Wuchang-Su consists of two cascades. At the foot of the first one stands a statue of an eagle. This statue hides under itself water intake structures, from where water through the Mogaba reservoir enters Yalta. At the foot of the second cascade the streams are broken against the rocks. They say that the waters of Wuchang-Su help local people predict the weather. If the water is clear and clean, then even the overcast sky will not force the local resident to abandon the walk to the mountains. And if the water is clay and restless - we should expect bad weather.
Near the waterfall there is a comfortable viewing platform, from which an unforgettable view not only of the waterfall, but also of the whole Yalta mountain forest reserve opens. Tour guides are advised to come to Wuchang-Su in spring or autumn, when it becomes full-flowed and can be seen even from Yalta. But in the hot summer the waterfall almost completely dries up. Then at the foot of the mountain you can see an amusing sign - "the waterfall does not work." And in winter, the stormy streams of Wuchang-Su freeze, primarily, attracting the attention of climbers. So, in the 80s of the 20th century the icefall was first conquered by Yury Lishaev, nicknamed "Fantik".
Another undeniable advantage of the Yalta waterfall is a unique high-pine pine forest from Pallas Pine. It is these trees that clean the air very well and fill it with aroma. And so rest at the unique waterfall will be not only unforgettable, full of vivid impressions, but also curative.
To get to Wuchang-Su, you need to move along Yalta-Bakhchisaray highway to the stop, which is called "Wuchang-Su waterfall".
