Monument Poltava galushke

A wooden table top, covered with a Ukrainian embroidered towel, and on it there is a huge spoon and a plate with 12 dumplings - this is how the popular monument to the galushka, located in Poltava on Cathedral Square on Ivanova Hill. The monument symbolizes the prosperity and well-being of the Ukrainian family, at the same time remaining an indisputable symbol of the city. The authors of this work were People's Artist of Ukraine Anatoly Chernoshchekov and Nikolai Tsis. At first the sculpture was placed near the Holy Dormition Cathedral, but soon moved to Mount Ivanov on the other side of the Cathedral Square. The opening of the monument to the Poltava galushka took place on April 1, 2006, on the 197th anniversary of the birth of Nikolai Gogol, who at one time glorified this dish on the pages of his works.
