The refined and well-groomed palace of the Countess Shcherbatova, located in the center of the city of Nemirova, is undoubtedly one of the main sights of the Vinnytsia region. In addition, this famous monument of architecture has an important historical value. He does not get tired to conquer the hearts of the city's guests with his neoclassical style.

Two-storey, rectangular shape, the palace impresses with its park facade, along which there are picturesque walking terraces. The spirit of the castle is guarded by the serene and calm sculptures of lions standing at the central entrance.

It is worth saying a few words about the wise and noble owner of the palace, the last owner of the Nemirov estate, Maria Shcherbatova. After marrying Prince Alexei Scherbatov, she actively engaged in charitable and patronage activities, organized a free hospital for the poor, a monastery school and a gymnasium for girls. Her writings did not go unnoticed - the locals respected and genuinely loved the Countess. However, her life ended tragically. In January 1920, she and her entire family were brutally murdered by three drunken twenty-year-old Red Guards. Nemiroff's population was so devoted to Maria Shcherbatova that her murderers were soon found dead. Her body was buried near the church by nuns. The Countess's Palace was built over 30 years - from 1885 to 1917 - on the site of the old residence, designed by the Czech architect Jiri Stibral. At the beginning of the First World War, the countess turned him into a military infirmary, where she herself worked as a nurse of mercy.

You can not ignore the huge beautiful park bordering the building. It is remarkable first of all because on its territory, the area of which is as much as 85 hectares, more than 160 species of trees and bushes grow. Of course, such a huge park can not be imagined without a magic tree. When the only son of Maria Shcherbatova married, she gave the gardener a difficult task - to find a tree in the park that would symbolize this event. The gardener could not cope with this task. One day, the countess, strolling in the shade of the trees, came across what she was looking for. The huge oak tree, whose trunk was divided in three, struck Maria Shcherbatov to the depths of her soul. At the wedding of her son, she wished that the newly-made family was like this oak tree. The right trunk is her son, the left one is his wife, and the middle one is the countess, who will always protect their well-being. Now this oak tree is considered the tree of love. The newlyweds, to this day, wanting to secure a strong marriage, come here to touch the magic oak and ask for inexhaustible love and family happiness.

In front of the building there is a flower clearing. Previously, in its place was a small lake, which the countess loved to come to see the beautiful swans and just relax. But after her groom accidentally drowned in it, Maria Shcherbatova ordered to dry this lake and plant flowers here that adorn the courtyard of the castle to this day. In 1921, the sanatorium "Avangard" was opened in the palace, and it still operates. People from all corners of the country and the world come here to heal and enjoy the beauty of these places.

To date, in the hall of the palace above the fireplace hangs a portrait of the countess. It is noteworthy that many ancient interiors are still preserved here. The picture gallery in the palace has more than 400 exhibits. Many of them were written by Ukrainian artists, who often leave their work, leaving the sanatorium after recovery. Many say that in one of the windows of the palace, in the morning, appears the silhouette of a woman in white. It is believed that this is the countess, who even after death leaves her quarters to look at her picturesque estate.

Staying in this palace, you feel how the fuss and problems go to the background, leaving in the soul an unprecedented calm and tranquility.
