Literary Memorial Museum of Mikhail Bulgakov, Kiev
Andreevsky Descent is known as a street of ancient buildings. The museum building was no exception. The parental house of Mikhail Afanasievich was built in the 19th century according to the project of the architect I. Gordenin.
In the walls of the house in Andreevsky passed the happiest years of the childhood of the future writer - from 1906 to 1919. Disturbing historical events and the First World War forced the family to go beyond the boundaries of Kiev. But his home was always present in the author's works - in the novel "The White Guard" and some stories.
Bulgakov's parental home turned into a museum in 1991. The basis of the first exposition was the private collection of A.P. Konchakovsky. Over time, the museum's storerooms were replenished with family photos, Bulgakov's personal belongings, which were given by family members and friends of the writer.
In the modern exhibition of the museum the real life of MA is intertwined. Bulgakov and the fictional literary life of the heroes of his works. Of the two rooms one is dedicated to the Bulgakov family, and the second to the Turbin family. Thanks to numerous photographs and rare exhibits of the Bulgakov Museum, the interior of the rooms and the overall design of the premises completely recreate the atmosphere of the early 20th century.
Admirers of MA. Bulgakov Museum is waiting daily from 10 to 17 hours in winter and from 10 to 18 in the summer.
