Not far from the Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is the former estate of Count Gabor Bethlen. Today the walls of this castle belong to the Museum of Beregivshina.

It was better to find a place for the museum. Betlen's palace is the oldest building in the city.

Exhibition materials of the museum occupy 4 huge halls of the palace. Despite the large area, it is quite easy to navigate here. Expositions are presented in chronological order, which allows you to study the history of the region from ancient times to modern times. It is noteworthy that the Museum of Beregovshina is one of the few in which the remains of a mammoth who lived in Transcarpathia were preserved. They are represented in the first hall, next to the tools of the Paleolithic times.

The second room tells about the life of the nationalities living in Transcarpathia. Here are represented an ancient churn, a loom, the first irons, which were actively used in this area. The greatest interest in visitors is caused by pocket scales, which can be weighed as 5 kg, and 1 ton.

The third exhibition hall is almost entirely devoted to the events of the Second World War. Under the glass of the exhibition, personal letters and clothes of the military, as well as important state documents of that time, were preserved.

The last hall acquaints with the fine art of the region. The high walls of the hall are preserved by the works of artists of Ukraine and Austria. A special place is occupied by 35 paintings by J. Garani - the Beregovsky painter.

It is curious that the archival funds of the institution are constantly replenished. Every year, residents of the city transfer their personal, sometimes rare, things to the local museum of local lore.
