Gulyaypol regional museum of local lore
Gulyaypole is a difficult village among the fields of Zaporozhye region. This is the birthplace of the anarchist movement of the times of the October Revolution, the place around which the Ukrainian Insurgent Armywas formed and developed. The main figure was Nestor Makhno, a well-known revolutionary, whose memory the walls of the museum of local lore are kept in our days.
Gulyaypole is located in the distance from the cities at a distance of about 100 km from the highway Kharkiv - Simferopol, so you can get here either by bus or by your own car along the endless fields sown with sunflowers, bread and corn.
The museum was founded in 1960 by the decision of the Gulyaypol District Council. For the museum was given a historic building, where previously there was a bank "Society of mutual credit", which is unique architectural monuments of the early 20th century. The exposition of the museum is dedicated to the history of the Gulyaypolsky Territory since the time of the settlement of the first primitive people to this day. Most exposure materials devoted to Nestor Makhno. In total, the museum holds about 17 thousand exhibits. The yard of the museum is adorned with a monument to the cart, on which the Makhnovists fought.
The museum is very popular not only among Ukrainian tourists, but also among residents of Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain. Total about 10 thousand visitorsannually are in the museum. Every year in Gulyaypole, many festivals take place, attracting more tourists from different countries every year.
