Volnyansky regional museum of local lore

The first museum in Volnyansk was opened in 1971 due to the active work of the inhabitants of the city. Later in 1995 a local museum of local lore began to work on its base. The museum funds store about 2000 objects.

The first museum in Volnyansk was opened in 1971 thanks to the active work of the inhabitants of the city. Later  in 1995 on its base local museum of local lore began to work. The museum holds about 2,000 objects. Mostly there are objects of everyday life, history, documents and artifacts.

The entire exposition of the museum is divided into  7 thematic halls: the first hall "Population" is devoted to the history of the region from the moment the first inhabitants appeared here and until the 19th century. Two halls are devoted to the history of the October Revolution and World War II in the city. Here documents of the time, tools and military equipment are presented. The "Modern Hall" exhibits temporary exhibitions, mainly there are works by local artists. Also there are exhibitions: "Famous people of Volnyansk", "City in the beginning of the 20th century", "History of the city in 1920-1930".

Employees of the museum  conduct an active popular scientific work, organize a variety of thematic exhibitions on the basis of the museum collection, collect materials about Volnyansk for scientific publications, magazines and Internet resources.
