BBC USA set a new world speed record on earth
For some it may sound surprising, but the world speed record on the surface of the Earth now belongs to the BBC US research team, which managed to reach the mark in 1018 on a sleigh with a magnetic levitation, 71 km/h.
In fact, everything is not so simple and you will not see a smooth surface of the desert and will not hear the roar of jet engines. The record is set in the 846 test squadron, where, using magnetic levitation and rocket boosters, the developers managed to overcome the previous achievement. The system used liquid helium and superconductors. The total length of the track was 640 meters. Magnetic levitation saved the sleigh from friction with the surface. So, by and large, it was about the horizontal flight of a rocket.
