The Italian village of long-livers
The small seaside village of Azzaroli, located on the Italian coast of Amalfi, south of Naples, has become the object of study of many scientists. The thing is that every tenth inhabitant has overcome the age threshold of 100 years.
In total, the micro-region of Cilento, with a population of 60 thousand people, has more than two thousand long-livers, which is perceived completely out of the box . This puts the region on a par with such famous places on our planet as the Italian island of Sardinia and the Japanese island of Okinawa. Blood sampling in 81 long-livers showed a high content of adrenomedullin, which accelerates the process of blood circulation and metabolism. But the reasons for this state of organisms in the elderly so far and undefined. Among the main factors distinguish a healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition, active life and a favorable climate.
