18 amazing 100-year-old photos about everyday life in Japan
These rare old photographs of Japan appeared in 1908 thanks to the artful eye of Arnold Ghent. An American scientist, a native of Germany, honed his photographic skill, spending all his free time on the streets with a camera in his hands and a great desire to capture unforgettable moments. This intriguing series of photographs was created during a six-month visit to Japan.
Ghent possessed a wonderful feeling of "visually interesting compositions with a troubled background". It was thanks to this photographer that he managed to create an atmosphere of fussy everyday life. In addition, the value of images lies in a variety of cultural scenarios: young women in traditional clothes, local people rest on the beach, children wander the streets. Arnold Ghent was able to accurately capture the special flavor of Japan 100 years ago.
