City of dreams: what to do and what to see in Sagaro
In a small town of Sagaro in the northeast of Spain, rich and successful people spend their holidays. The Costa Brava has the best beach infrastructure and all the conditions for a comfortable stay. Here you can often meet famous actors, politicians and athletes. What's the secret - we'll tell you now
The history of the city
It started almost a hundred years ago. In the 1920s, the son of a large industrialist, Josep Hubert, invited his father to invest in land near the bay of San Pol. Names of these places were not, and Hubert decided not to invent - they christened the territory named after the local river Agaro. As the new owners recalled, the terrain was wild: there were only lizards and squirrels.
It would seem that there were no prospects, but the owners could see the essence: an excellent climate, good location and chic views of the , coniferous forests and cliffs. To the honor of the Hubert family, they decided to develop the coast gradually, preserving the surrounding landscape. For this, the architect Rafael Maso was invited - an adherent of the classical Catalan style and a follower of the famous Antonio Gaudi. Soon in Sagaro, the first elite residential complex was built, where large businessmen and celebrities settled. Here lived Charlie Chaplin, Frank Sinatra and even the Spanish King Juan Carlos, and the monarch's relatives still want to visit Sagaro.
Now the permanent population of the town is about 1500 people. During the swimming season, this figure grows several times.

What to see
Guests of Sagaro should definitely visit the promenade of the Cami de Ronda. Once here, traders smuggled, which the royal guards hunted. Now on the rocky ledges are equipped with observation platforms. The embankment itself, 1.8 km long, is buried in vegetation - cypresses, oleanders, olive trees. In some places old fishing huts can be seen.
The Sagaro Center is a luxury villa and mansion amidst lush greenery and flowers. On the hill stands the church of La Nostra Senyora de l'Esperança. Its building is made in the classical neo-baroque style for coastal chapels.

Separately worth mentioning is the famous Hostal De La Gavina, listed by UNESCO in the list of the best on the planet. Guests are struck by the majestic appearance of the building and the decoration of the rooms: what are the only marble floors and antique furniture!
Be sure to check out the for lunch. We recommend you to taste fish, paella, traditional Catalan snacks, wines and desserts.
There are several places in the vicinity of the city devoted to the life and work of Salvador Dali. In Figueres is the theater-museum of Dali, in Porligat - its house-museum, and 41 km from Sagaro - Pobol castle, which the artist owned. The building of the XI century was almost destroyed. The famous surrealist restored Pobol and gave it to his wife. Particularly interesting is the castle garden, visually enlarged due to optical illusions.
At a distance of 33 km from Sagaro, La Bisbal is a city famous for its ceramics. Also worth visiting is the nearby town of Playa d'Aro with the best golf clubs in .

Beaches
The beach of Sa Konka is considered one of the best in Europe. Its length is 400 meters, width is 40. The water here is absolutely transparent, and the rocks and pine trees that surround the beach from different sides create a cozy chamber atmosphere. If you walk a little to the north, you will enter a small bay. Here you can go in for snorkelling and explore the underwater world.
All modern amenities are available for holidaymakers: shower cabins, latrines, bars, playgrounds, fields for different sports, etc.
Beach San Pol is almost twice as long, but narrower. There are more people here and more activities. You can rent a wide variety of water equipment and transport: from water motorcycles to yachts and kayaks.
Both beaches were nicknamed "golden" - and for good reason: if you look closely at the watery surface, you will see golden sparks. The reason for this is the unique Sagaro rocks, which contain a sparkling mineral.
