Charming photos of mothers and their children on Indonesian floating markets
The floating market of Lok Baintan in Indonesia is a 500-year tradition of selling fresh produce along the river every morning, from the very dawn to the hot noon. The early clock here is a whirlwind of chaotic sounds, smells and colors. And since most of the sellers are women, there is nothing unusual in the fact that the boats with them are shared by their swarthy, smiling kids. Moms teach their children the skill of trade from the very diapers.
Photographer Tubagus Tisna Sucherman examines the everyday life of mothers and their crumbs, passing in these boats-counters. Multi-tasking Indonesian superwomen easily manage to feed children, while simultaneously managing the paddle or selling vegetables. Some kids are already old enough to help moms manage a boat or give products to customers.
