Fujisawa: the eco-city of the future, which already exists in reality
Technologies of the future are already becoming a reality, as, for example, it happened in one of the quarters of the city of Fujisawa (Japan). In this neighborhood, all houses are equipped with solar panels and are equipped with smart electronics, which saves energy. Instead of ordinary cars, the project developers offer to use electric vehicles, and the innovative system established here allows to save water consumption.

The location for the construction of the future quarter was chosen in the city of Fujisawa, which is located in Kanagawa Prefecture on the island of Honshu. Before that, there was one of the factories producing Panasonic TVs. But it was decided to postpone it, and on the 19 hectares liberated erect the intellectual city of the future. The project was initiated, as you might guess, by Panasonic, and Japanese companies working in the field of electric power industry were involved as investors.

The construction of the block was completed in 2014. Here are located mainly two-story houses, closely adjacent to each other, in which there is one parking space for the car. But by Japanese standards it is very comfortable. The quarter houses about 1000 houses, designed for 3000 people.

On the roofs of the houses are solar panels, and in the middle of the quarter is the complex Fujisawa SST Square, which manages the work of energy-saving systems of the quarter. The intelligent system not only regulates the energy savings, but also completely tracks the volumes consumed by each house. Thus, according to the creators, maximum energy savings will be achieved without compromising on comfortable living.

Near each house there are stations for charging electric cars, street lighting is provided by LED lamps, and the video surveillance system monitors what is happening in each part of the innovative town. The developers of the eco-quarter also intend to stimulate the Japanese refusal from traditional cars and their transition to electric vehicles and hybrid transport. In addition, there is a car and bicycle rental station, which, as planned by the engineers, will soon replace personal transport.

In the future, wind turbines and stations using geothermal energy should appear in this area of Fujisawa, which will increase the energy independence of the quarter. To date, the "city of the future" can provide itself with electricity by 30%, and in case of unforeseen situations or accidents it is able to exist in an autonomous mode within 3 days.

Part of the electricity is generated using natural gas. Near each house is installed its own small power system Panasonic ENE-FARM, which allows to receive from natural gas heat, and combustion waste is partially converted into water.

In addition to clean energy, the creators of the quarter took care of the economy of water resources. An innovative system is installed here, which allows saving up to 30% of water due to a more rational communication device.
