Istanbul is a city of two continents

There are several cities in the world that are partly located on two continents simultaneously. For example, in Kazakhstan such city is Atyrau, and in Egypt - Suez. There are also Russian Magnitogorsk and Orenburg.

However, only in Turkey there is a metropolis, whose life and territory belong simultaneously to two continents: Europe and Asia. We mean that Istanbul is the only city with a million inhabitants, located in two parts of the world. Naturally, it is rightfully considered the largest two-continental city on the planet. The line dividing the continents and the city is the Bosporus Strait. It mixes not only culture, but also traditions, religion, and much more. The population of the metropolis is approaching the 15 million mark, while Istanbul itself is considered the largest center of economy and culture in the region.
