Longmen - stone caves at the Dragon Gate
This unique complex of Buddhist cave temples is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and is recognized as one of the most important cult places of this kind in the territory of the People's Republic of China.
The total number of discovered caves of this complex, today is about 2345. In addition, the complex has about 40 pagodas. In Lunmen there is a huge number of Buddha statues. And, their sizes range from a few centimeters to 17 meters. It is believed that the various figures inside the caves are not less than hundreds of thousands. The length of the complex along the Yi River is more than a kilometer along each of the shores. Most of the caves were created in the 7th-9th centuries AD.
