The southernmost point of Europe
Speaking of the southernmost point of Europe as a continent, this place is considered the Cape of Marroke, which is the southern outskirts of Tarifa, in the province of Cadiz, Spain. In fact, this cape used to belong to the island.
However, after some time, the man decided to connect the island to the mainland with a kind of dam. So, the island turned into a peninsula, and its extreme southern point became the southernmost place of the continental part of Europe. The island-peninsula of Las Palomas is located at the narrowest point of the Strait of Gibraltar and from Cape Marroke to the African continent is only 14 kilometers. Until 2001, the military unit was based here. Now Las Palomas is recognized by Spain as a protected area and protected by the state.
