Lake Sinevir

On the top of the Osirna mountain in the National Nature Park "Sinevir" is the "sea eye" of the Carpathian Mountains. This is the name of the pearl of the Carpathians - Synevyr Lake, which was formed about ten thousand years ago as a result of a powerful displacement of rocks. The area of ​​spring clear and transparent water is about 5 hectares, where the depth sometimes reaches 22 meters. However, the old-timers say that so far no one has been able to measure its actual depth.

Legends of Lake Synevyr

There are many legends and stories that seem to hang around the lake. Long ago mountains belonged to one count, who had a beautiful daughter Xin. This name was given to her because of blue eyes. Collecting flowers on the mountain slopes, she saw the shepherd Vir, who played the pipe. So they fell in love with each other. Upon learning of his daughter's love, his father ordered to kill Vir. The subordinate counts threw a huge stone on the guy. For a long time she lamented her beloved's Xin, so the blue lake, like her eyes,formed, and in the middle - the tip of this stone. And now you can see that little islet among the blue waters.

Local residents built wooden sculptures of Xin and Vir and placed them near Synevyr. So people tried to complement the expressive beauty of the Carpathian Mountains and the blue lake, surrounded by perennial beeches and junipers. Impressive nature of this area: spruce, beech, pine, rare plants, mushrooms, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and many other gifts of nature. From all sides streamlets of spring water are striking, which can be safely drunk from specially constructed houses. Deer, bear, roe deer, wild boar, wolf, badger, fox, lynx, pugachi, rabbits, storks and many others live in forests and valleys.

Rest on Lake Synevyr will be remembered for many years.
