Kochubei Oaks

Sung by Gogol Poltava Region - Dikanka. It is beautiful at any time of the year, but a special charm gets in the spring, when the lilac grove blossoms and rises in greenery. The farm is near Dikanka. It is in this place that the mighty Kochubei oaks grow, which are already about 800 years old.

This is an incredible natural monument, a historical treasure that we received as a gift from ancestors.

The Kochubei estate was surrounded by an oak grove. Today there are only four trees: three in a row, adorning once the entrance to the estate, and one separately, by the forestry. The height of the trees is 20-22 m, and the diameter reaches 1.5 m. The installed benchesnext to the mighty giants allow visitors to relax, enjoy the beauty of nature and breathe clean air.

The popular rumor says that the alley was planted by Colonel Iskra and the scribe Kochubei, on the birthday of the latter. If Kochubei oaks could speak, they would tell about the beautiful love story of Motry, the daughter of the general clerk, and her lover - hetman Mazepa. It was under the crowns of these trees that their visits passed.
