Church of the Exaltation and St. Joseph, Pidhirtsi
Pidhirtsi village of the Lviv region is special. It is there that there is an amazing sight, which at first sight causes a lot of pleasant impressions and emotions.
In 1752 Václav Rzhevuski issued a decree to begin the construction of the burial vault. In 1766 all the works were completed. So the Roman Catholic Church of the Exaltation and St. Joseph began. Romanus was the main architect- it is worth noting his excellent work. The church is built in a magnificent baroque style, the building displays greatness and strength: one only needs to look at the portico of 14 columns.
The church attracts attention by a green dome. Near the huge dome there are sculptures of eight saints. Unfortunately, one of them has not survived until today: the consequences of World War II.
The road to the church is unusual. You'll go through a beautiful lime avenue 300 meters long. Near this amazing sight are two figures of saints. One of them - the figure of the Mother of God, the second depicts St. Joseph. Being near the church, you feel a special atmosphere that will take you back several centuries.
Many tourists who come to Pidhirtsi look at Podgoretsky Castle, do not know about the Vozdvizhensky temple. Although it is located very close. Now the church is under reconstruction. Despite the much deplorable state of the temple, you will certainly like it. The Greek Catholic community holds divine services in the church of St. Joseph.
