Museum of the Ancient World and Middle Ages History, Lviv

The first exhibition was based on finds of archaeological excavations conducted in the late 18th - early 20th centuries. The main theme of the museum exposition is the life of the people of the Paleolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic (Stone Age culture), as well as the period of the bright Middle Ages (an epoch covering the history of the 11-16 centuries).

Exhibits of the Museum

While on the tour, guests can learn more about the history of the Ancient World. Most of the artifacts stored in the museum are archaeological excavations, carried out on all westernlandsof Ukraine.

Scientists painstakingly sorted dishes, ceramic utensils, items of working equipment and much more for centuries of their creation. Thus, visitors can see the full picture of the evolution of a person who lived on the territory of Ukraine in ancient times.

The building of the Museum of Ancient World and Middle Ages History

An interesting feature of the museum is its location. It is located in the most important and picturesque square of Lviv - Market Square, house 24. Its exposition was placed in the wallsof the oldbuildingwith the very remarkable architecture of the 18th century . The house was restored in the early 1980s, inside the walls were converted to exhibition halls. But despite this, guests can see the ancient vaults and ceilings.

The Museum of the Ancient World and the Middle Ages is only a branch of the large Lviv Historical Museum. All its parts are located in different rooms on the Market Square. It will be useful to visit another exposition nearby, which was located in the beautiful palace of Bandinelli, built in the late Middle Ages, in the 16th century.
