Monument to the Grand Duke of Volyn and the King of Galician-Volyn lands in Galicia is located in the central part of the city. Nearby is the Church of the Nativity of Christ. The composition of the monument consists of a pedestal about 3.5 m high, on which a bronze figure of a rider 4.2 m high rises.

Prince is depicted on a horse, his right hand is set back and holds a sword . Left, he holds the reins of a horse.

History of the monument

This place was not chosen by chance, in the first place the monument can be seen from different angles. Also local historians believe that this area and the coming quarters have appeared here thanks to the initiative of the Grand Duke. They were built for foreign merchants.

The authors of the project were Lviv architect A. Chamar and sculptor A. Pylev. Opened the monument to the 1100th anniversary of the cityin 1998. Monument to Danilo Halytsky is one of the most important sights of the city, because the name of the prince is deeply intertwined with the history of Galich and the entire Volyn region.
