Monument to Kirov, Dnepropetrovsk

Kirov's monument to Sergei Mironovich is set at the foot of the central city avenue named in his honor. In life, an outstanding revolutionary never lived in this city. The monument to Kirov was established in 1968, it is a gypsum white bust with a simple pedestal and a memorable inscription.

Kirov and his activities

The real name of the revolutionary is Kostrikov, he was born in a simple peasant family and already in his childhood was a complete orphan. Living from 9 years in the shelter, Sergei gets a good education with frequent certificates of his success. During the first revolution of the early 1900s, became a participant in the demonstrations of workers, for which it was later calculated and arrested. After the first imprisonment, he is even more asserted in his free-thinking and becomes a trustee of Joseph Stalin in the mid-1920s.

Mysterious death

Sergei Kirov was shot in the back of the neck in the corridor next to his office in 1934. Historians continue to argue to this day about who became the customer of this murder and for what reasons. Many years later, many agree that it was with Kirov that the global purge and the famous Stalinist repressions with references began. He went down in history as a revolutionist unpolluted by rumors and a fighter for justice.

To get to the monument, you can climb up from the Lazar Globa park or walk from the station along Pushkin Street (it was inhabited by an outstanding poet during his southern exile).
