Monument to Brandys A.Ya., Dnepropetrovsk
The monument to the brave pilot Brandys Anatoliy Yakovlevich is located on the avenue of the newspaper Pravda. The place for the bust was chosen not by accident, since Brandys was born and raised in Dnepropetrovsk in the area of the old Nizhnedneprovsk. It was installed before the solemn opening on the day of the Great Victory on May 9, 1949 during the life of an outstanding pilotof the Second World War.
The history of the pilot's victories
After graduating in the summer of 1943 a special school of military pilots in the city of Perm, the young Brandis at the age of 20 is sent to the front. There he starts a brilliant career pilot 75 assault division. The most difficult tasks division with the participation of Brandys performed in a matter of hours. The combat sorties always ended in loud victories.
During two years of the war Anatoly Yakovlevich received 3 medals and more than 9 orders of varying importance. Also Brandys twice received the honorary title of Hero of the USSR. After the war, the pilot moved to Moscow, where he died in 1988.
