Flowering lupines at Lake Tekapo
The New Zealand Lake Tekapo is the second largest on the South Island. This place can really be called a photographer's dream. Judge for yourself, in the distance you can see snow-capped peaks, turquoise water of the lake and a tiny church.
Still more magical and unreal becomes when lupines start to bloom here from November to December. They cover almost the entire coast of the lake and make the overall landscape incredibly colorful and contrasting. Lupine Russell, who also grows in this region, is able to reach a height of one and a half meters. The plant is a perennial, therefore, in addition to the fallen seeds, old plants bloom. Blossoms lupines in different colors: lilac, purple, white, orange, yellow, pink and even bicolour. Lupine Russell was withdrawn in 1950, and he was planted here along the nearby highway. Over time, the plants settled over most of the terrain.
