Mykolaiv Church in Mezhirechke
There are a lot of unique buildings in Polissya that attract numerous tourists. They are best preserved in small settlements.
On both sides of the river Uzh there is a village Mezhirechka, whose population is only 2,000 people. The main sights of the village are granite boulders and the church of St. Nicholas. The temple was erected in 1772. Despite the baroque trends in the architecture of the 18th century, this church was built in the classical architecture styleof Polesie.
The five-field church of St. Nicholas is built in the form of a cross with short branches. The walls are made of wood and painted in sky blue, and the originally roofed shingles are hidden under the metal cover. The side domes are made of four-sided, and the main one - octagonal, rises above the others.
Separately from the church stands a two-tiered bell tower built in the 19th century. Two technologies were used in the construction of the bell tower: the first tier is made of log, and the second - on a frame basis. The tent with a cross crowns the belltower.
Travelers who came to Mezhirechka will be interested in real Polesye huts with traditional paintings that have been perfectly preserved.
